Let's Talk About | WrestleMania XL: Behind The Curtain Documentary

On Wednesday July 3rd 2024, one of the most anticipated documentaries in wrestling today, WrestleMania XL: Behind The Curtain was finally released for the world to see.

The one hour special took us on a trip down memory lane, as we revisited a series of events that took place, from behind the scenes to our television screens.

Having watched this documentary a couple of times now, it was basically "The Cody Rhodes Story" a timeline of events, starting with him stating his goal to "finish the story" and failing at WrestleMania 39 against Roman Reigns, in all honesty when Rhodes lost the first match, everyone could instantly see what the main event of WrestleMania 40 was going to be, until it clashed with the Greatest story in the history of the game, The Bloodline Story.

When Cody decided not to challenge Roman for the title at WrestleMania 40 and WWE went with Rock vs. Roman, the wrestling world, especially on social media, turned toxic like never before, that time was uncomfortable, it was an embarrassing time to be a fan, because so called-fans were tweeting unnecessary abuse to the wrestlers and their family members, I hope that never happens again, it shouldn't have happened in the first place.

This will be a very unpopular opinion, Cody was showing signs of a true heel in this documentary when he was talking about the plans for WrestleMania.

WWE and The Rock paid attention to what the people were saying and changed plans which resulted in Rock turning heel and becoming The Final Boss..

The best thing about this documentary was watching the rehearsals before show times, giving us a great insight, especially to the non wrestling fans, of what goes on behind the scenes, especially between the wrestlers and the producers.

That is it for the review, be sure to check out the upcoming schedule and archives on this website.

Let's Talk About | NXT Heatwave

Following the footsteps of Money In The Bank from the night before,Toronto hosted NXT Heatwave, Let's Talk About the PLE.

Ever since Wes Lee returned from injury he has made it his goal to become the NXT North American Champion, Oba Femi stood in his way, this was a great match, Wes tried to overcome Oba's strength and power, he ultimately failed.

Kelani Jordan and Sol Ruca showed their skills and athleticism for the world to see here, Kelani's title reign as the NXT North American Women's Champion continues, looking forward to their next match, shoutout to both competitors here. Respect.

A round of applause for Axiom, Nathan Frazer and Chase U, this was a fantastic tag team match for the gold, both teams took each other to their limits. Axiom and Frazer retain.

Roxanne Perez versus Lola Vice for the NXT Women's Championship was an excellent co main event, during the Battleground review a few weeks ago it was said Lola was a serious contender for the Championship, that thought remains the same despite her loss against Roxanne here at Heatwave.

The Fatal Fatal Way match for the NXT Championship at Heatwave was fire, excuse the pun, Je'von Evans was outstanding, perhaps the MVP of the main event, NXT has been known to produce memorable moments over the years, Ethan Page winning the title was unexpected, wrestling is great when events like this occur.

Let's Talk About | Money In The Bank

The Money In The Bank PLE began with the Men's Money In The Bank Ladder Match, it was a quality line up, everyone was a true candidate to win, at the end of the day, Drew McIntyre was victorious, like he said he was going to be during a promo on an episode of WWE RAW, people on social media were unhappy that Jey Uso didn't win the briefcase, the belief here is WWE has a plan for Jey later this year, The Bloodline Story.

The second match of the night was Sami Zayn versus Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental Championship, it's crazy how quick Bron runs in the ring, he is starting to be a fan favourite lately, it must be said that the Goldberg comparisons have to stop, let Bron cook on his own, Sami won the match clean with no shenanigans, it was surprising to see and a good decision at the same time, because unpredictability in wrestling is a good thing, one hundred percent.

The host of Money In The Bank, WWE Hall Of Famer, Trish Stratus, introduced John Cena, who announced he will be retiring soon.

The title matches continued, it was time for Damian Priest to defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Seth Rollins, this was Seth's first match since WrestleMania 40, he recently returned from injury, the stipulation for this contest was, if Seth lost? he couldn't challenge for the Championship again, whilst Damian is champion, when Rollins hit the Falcon Arrow, it was a two count, this was strange because it seemed as though they missed a cue for Drew's music to hit, moments later it did, Drew cashed in the case to make it a triple threat, CM Punk, as expected, attacked Drew, Damian then hit the South of Heaven Chokeslam for the win to remain the Champion.

Gunther will be Damian's next opponent at SummerSlam, there is a lot of talk online about what's next for Seth and so on, we won't delve in to speculation here, let's just wait see how things progress on WWE RAW.

The Women's Money In The Bank match was the best one of the night, without question, salutes to every competitor here, it was chaos, they put their careers at risk here by hitting their moves on the available weapons, the standout moment was Tiffany Stratton sending Chelsea crashing through the table, before grabbing the briefcase, if you haven't seen this match? go and watch it.

The Six Man Tag Team Match was the main event, Kevin Owens, Randy Orton & Cody Rhodes versus Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga and Jacob Fatu, Solo has been calling himself The Tribal Chief and Head of The Table, which has been met with "We want Roman" chants, Jacob was, without doubt, the star of this match, this version of The Bloodline picked up the win here after Solo pinned Cody for the win, setting up a possible WWE Championship match for SummerSlam.

Let's Talk About | Forbidden Door - Swerve Strickland vs. Will Ospreay

Forbidden Door is a collaboration between AEW and NJPW, there were more than ten matches on the card, Zero Hour and Main Card combined, usually we talk about the PPV/PLE as a whole, however, on this occasion, Let's Talk About the main event, for the AEW World Championship. The defending Champion, Swerve Strickland vs. Will Ospreay, the reigning AEW International Champion.

Will's montage prior to his entrance was amazing, the piano melody added quality to it, his theme song is one of the best in the business today, it's always nice to hear the "Ospreay! Ospreay! chants, Jim Jones introduced the Champion Swerve and the great Prince Nana, Swerve's entrance had a boxing fight vibe to it, the crowd in attendance supported both guys, the introductions made by the announcers, Takuro Shibata and Justin Roberts were very WWE like because of the name plates on screen and camera cuts.

The move exchanges in and out of the ring were excellent throughout the match and while the referee was down, Don Callis gave Will a screwdriver to finish the job on Swerve, Will was hesitant at first and eventually decided against it, the conversations between Callis and Ospreay will be something to watch out for on TV as time goes on, in typical AEW fashion there were so many near falls, Will was running out of energy, he hit the Hidden Blade but it didn't affect Swerve at all, who hit the House Call followed by Big Pressure for the win.

The respect shown by Will and Swerve after the match to each other was great to see, looking forward to their next match, whenever that will be, it's a shame this one didn't happen at Wembley in August this year.

Before we end this conversation, the so-called term "The Forbidden Door" has lost its mystique in recent years, which has unfortunately taken away the fun, nowadays, "The Forbidden Door" is, in truth, just a Door.

We will close it here, be sure to check out the Upcoming Schedule and archived content on this website. Thanks for reading.
