On Wednesday July 3rd 2024, one of the most anticipated documentaries in wrestling today, WrestleMania XL: Behind The Curtain was finally released for the world to see.
The one hour special took us on a trip down memory lane, as we revisited a series of events that took place, from behind the scenes to our television screens.
Having watched this documentary a couple of times now, it was basically "The Cody Rhodes Story" a timeline of events, starting with him stating his goal to "finish the story" and failing at WrestleMania 39 against Roman Reigns, in all honesty when Rhodes lost the first match, everyone could instantly see what the main event of WrestleMania 40 was going to be, until it clashed with the Greatest story in the history of the game, The Bloodline Story.
When Cody decided not to challenge Roman for the title at WrestleMania 40 and WWE went with Rock vs. Roman, the wrestling world, especially on social media, turned toxic like never before, that time was uncomfortable, it was an embarrassing time to be a fan, because so called-fans were tweeting unnecessary abuse to the wrestlers and their family members, I hope that never happens again, it shouldn't have happened in the first place.
This will be a very unpopular opinion, Cody was showing signs of a true heel in this documentary when he was talking about the plans for WrestleMania.
WWE and The Rock paid attention to what the people were saying and changed plans which resulted in Rock turning heel and becoming The Final Boss..
The best thing about this documentary was watching the rehearsals before show times, giving us a great insight, especially to the non wrestling fans, of what goes on behind the scenes, especially between the wrestlers and the producers.
That is it for the review, be sure to check out the upcoming schedule and archives on this website.
