Let's Talk About | The Rock's Return On SmackDown

The Royal Rumble has been and gone, the build to WrestleMania 41 has been lacklustre and slow so far, us, the wrestling fans, love to make predictions, mine was that The Rock making a surprise appearance at the upcoming WrestleMania press conference, as a sense of deja vu after what happened last year when Cody got involved and then plans changed.

Then we got the blockbuster news that The Final Boss was going to appear on this episode of SmackDown, the expectation was he was going to announce New Orleans as the location for WrestleMania 42, which was correct. 

The Rock then called out Cody, he spoke about last year's WrestleMania and praised him for being a "great" Champion, he then cut to the chase by saying he wanted Cody's soul, is he the Undertaker now? Rock ended this segment by saying he will see Cody next Saturday in Toronto. 

The belief here is Cody will reject Rock's offer and someone else will join The Final Boss instead and possibly win the WWE Championship in April, the list of names here are: Drew McIntyre, John Cena and last but not least, CM Punk, who could be called "Corporate Man Punk" in the future, after selling his soul to Rock after cashing in on "The Favor" that Paul Heyman owes him.

All three names mentioned above have a link/history with Rock. Let's see what happens next at the Elimination Chamber.

Let's Talk About | NXT Vengeance Day | Retribution 2.0 Make A Statement

The TRUE third brand of WWE. NXT presented Vengeance Day from the nation's capital. Washington D.C. Let's Talk About this PLE. 

Congratulations to Stephanie Vaquer for winning the NXT Women's North American Championship, this will be her first of many Championships as time goes on. 

Nathan Frazer & Axiom are quickly becoming one of the best tag teams, not only in WWE, but in the world of professional wrestling completely, especially after this performance and victory against the impressive team of Josh Briggs & Yoshiki.

An unknown group attacked both teams after the match. 

NXT has a great reputation of being unpredictable, Eddy Thorpe winning against Trick is an example of that. Shoutout to Eddy, whereas this loss for Trick could be seen as his farewell on NXT before he moves on to Monday or Friday Nights. 

Ethan Page defeated Je'Von Evans, Evan's jaw injury storyline continues. 

Oba Femi won the triple threat to remain NXT Champion against Austin Theory & Grayson Waller, Theory & Waller's time as a team is almost over. The unknown group made a statement by attacking Oba. It is very early in the day, hopefully, this group aka Retribution 2.0 is booked better creatively than the OG Retribution, with no stupid masks included. 

The night began and ended with the ladies Championship matches, shoutout to whoever made this decision. Giulia won the fatal four to remain NXT Women's Champions, which included, former champions Bayley and Roxanne, as well as Cora Jade. 

Jordynne Grace joining Stephanie and Giulia in the ring before the PLE closed out showed how strong the women's roster is on NXT. Vengeance Day was great, looking forward to seeing what happens next.

Let's Talk About | The 2025 Royal Rumble - YEET!

 

The 2025 Royal Rumble from Indianapolis began with Alicia Taylor introducing Stephanie McMahon, who thanked the crowd and said this year's Rumble was the biggest in history, The Women's Royal Rumble was the first match of the night.  

It was great to see the current NXT Stars mix with the main roster during the Women's Rumble, it gave present versus the future vibes, Alexa Bliss returning was a genuine surprise because nobody knew her status with the company, the way that the crowd reacted was one of the best moments of the match without a doubt.  

After weeks of vignettes, Charlotte entered at Number Twenty Seven. I said in the predictions that her return and victory was reminiscent of Cody's return where he went on to win in 2023 and that is exactly how it panned out. 

DIY's Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa won the Two out of Three Falls match against Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin by Two Falls to One. The Street Profits attacked everyone involved, sending a message that they want the Tag Team Championships. 

To no one's surprise, Cody Rhodes is still the WWE Champion, defeating Kevin Owens, it was a good Ladder Match, you could sense the two characters really hated each other, which bought the intensity. Owens will probably blame Sami Zayn for the loss who appeared during the fight, this could lead to Owens vs Zayn at Elimination Chamber in Toronto.

It was now time for the Men's Rumble. Rey Mysterio and Penta, two of the greatest Luchadores in the game started off proceedings, iShowSpeed was a impromptu participant, replacing Akira Tozawa who was taken out by Carmelo Hayes, Speed's appearance will make astronomical numbers on Social Media, especially when Bron Breakker speared him. 

Jacob Fatu was excellent in this match, as expected, we haven't seen the best of him yet, he's still in second gear. Say his name and he appears, Joe Hendry was entry number 15, his involvement was always expected, even more so when he won the TNA Championship a couple of weeks ago.

Word to Jim Ross, business picked up from Number 16 to 30 in terms of star power. Punk eliminating Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns was a talking point which sparked rumours of a triple threat at WrestleMania. We shall see if this is official in due time. 

After over an hour. Number 20 was the lucky number as Jey Uso shocked the world to win the 2025 Men's Royal Rumble Match, lastly eliminating John Cena, Cena congratulated Jey for his win, Congratulations to Jey, its his time to finally win the World Heavyweight Championship from The Ring General, Gunther, in April. 

Main Event Jey Uso is going to WrestleMania! YEET! 

Before we close out the conversation, It must be said the information graphics for the stats on the screen had ESPN, SkySports vibes to it, which added more importance to the Rumble Matches. Shoutout to whoever decided to include that feature.
